At Greenhill Country Farm, our Roan Antelope breeding program is built on a foundation of superior genetics, sustainable wildlife management, and a long-term vision of producing strong, naturally adaptable animals suited for South Africa’s premium game industry.

Our Roan breeding project officially began in 2018 with the acquisition of a carefully selected foundation herd consisting of an elite breeding bull and quality cows sourced from respected bloodlines. From the beginning, our focus has been on responsible breeding practices, exceptional animal care, and maintaining genetic diversity within the herd.

Using our expertise in Roan management and breeding, we proudly achieved a remarkable 100% survival rate with our first calves — an important milestone that reflects the quality of our breeding program and dedication to wildlife excellence.

Since then, the Greenhill Country Farm Roan project has expanded significantly, with herds now established across reserve environments where their natural adaptation, grazing performance, and breeding success are continuously monitored under free-roaming conditions.

Our long-term vision is to produce hardy, self-sustaining Roan Antelope capable of thriving naturally with minimal human intervention while preserving the superior traits demanded within the luxury wildlife and game breeding market.
