Golden Wildebeest Breeding Program – Greenhill Country Farm

At Greenhill Country Farm, we take immense pride in breeding some of South Africa’s finest Golden Wildebeest with a strong focus on elite genetics, horn development, structural excellence, and long-term herd sustainability.

Since the beginning of our breeding journey in 2013, our philosophy has remained centered on acquiring superior bloodlines while maintaining excellent genetic diversification within our herds. This commitment has enabled us to establish a powerful breeding foundation recognized for quality, consistency, and exceptional performance.

Our original Golden Wildebeest project was founded with carefully selected animals from renowned breeding programs, including descendants of legendary sires such as Rommel, Napoleon, and Botse. These influential bloodlines continue to shape the outstanding quality seen throughout our herds today.

One of the cornerstone bulls in our program was the famous Rommel, known for his extraordinary genetics and impressive horn measurements exceeding 29 inches. His legacy remains visible through his exceptional daughters and powerful young breeding bulls currently producing outstanding offspring across the farm.

Today, Greenhill Country Farm proudly breeds with elite sons from Napoleon, Botse, and Rommel bloodlines — with several bulls measuring well over 31 inches. These genetics have been carefully selected over many years for:

  • Superior horn length and shape
  • Strong body conformation
  • Fertility and maternal strength
  • Calm temperament
  • Exceptional adaptability

Our breeding cows average horn measurements of approximately 23 inches, with select females exceeding 28 inches — showcasing the remarkable consistency and quality of our maternal genetics.

Our current breeding bull, Fireball, represents the future of the Greenhill Country Farm Golden Wildebeest program. His exceptional horn structure, muscular build, and calm temperament continue to produce a new generation of high-quality Golden Wildebeest suited for wildlife estates, game reserves, breeding projects, and luxury safari properties.

This exciting phase of our breeding program reflects the passion, precision, and dedication that define farming at Greenhill Country Farm. Every breeding decision made today is aimed at producing tomorrow’s exceptional genetics.
