The Meatmaster is a composite sheep breed in South Africa. It is bred as non-fat tailed sheep for top meat production. The Meatmaster offers farmers an excellent alternative with unique characteristics to meet the International market.
The Meatmaster Breeders established and developed a sheep breed as close to nature as possible and allow the sheep to perform under natural conditions. Nature thus selects the cream of the crop, ensuring that the Meatmaster soon becomes “Natures Money Maker”.
A hardy, very adaptable meat goat that could survive the harsh conditions of the African landscape while still maintaining high birth rate, high survival rate.
Dorper Sheep were developed by crossing Dorset Horn Rams and Blackhead Persian Ewes (1950). The Dorper Sheep is a very hardy animal that can live on minimal food. They consume whatever is available. Two types of Dorper sheep, the Black headed Dorper and the White headed Dorper are found in South Africa.
The Boer goat was selected for meat rather than milk production; due to selective breeding and improvement. They have a fast growth rate and excellent carcass qualities, making them one of the most popular breeds of meat goat in the world. Boer goats have a high resistance to disease and adapt well to hot, dry semideserts.
Scalding your slaughtered birds before placing them in a plucker is very important. This will ensure that the feathers and skin is soft so that the plucker can pick the feathers as easy as possible.
